FOWLER, IND. (WLFI) - One Indiana family is eager to move on after the convicted killer of their sister was sentenced to 83 years in prison.
Christine Craig's brother Patrick Craig said the family was relieved by the sentence, but it won't bring their beloved sister back.
58-year-old Steven R. Farrell was sentenced Tuesday in Benton County Circuit court, for the murder of 40-year-old Christine Craig, plus 20 years for being a felon in possession of a handgun. Patrick Craig is pleased that Christine's family won't ever be bothered by Farrell again.
During Farrell's trial last month, he admitted to having sex with a minor family member of Craig's, the same day he murdered Christine Craig. Patrick Craig said her children are safe now.
"We're just really happy with it. Knowing that he will more than likely be in prison the rest of his life. We got some justice for Christine, it doesn't bring her back but, you know at least the kids don't have to worry about him ever bothering them again," said Patrick Craig.
Craig said getting justice for Christine before the holidays is a blessing. He said her presence will always be missed, especially during this time of year.
It has not been determined where Farrell will serve his sentence.
Until then he will be held in the Benton County jail.
