INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Excise police say a northwest Indianapolis bar was cited early Sunday morning when 80 minors were found inside – some were only 13 years old.

Officers arrived to the Early Bird Bar and Grill located at 8311 N. Michigan Road at 1:45 a.m. and found the 80 minors inside. Police say dozens were drinking alcohol.

Police went to investigate after they found a flyer that advertised a 13-year-old girl’s birthday party.

Officers made 80 arrests on minors for being in the tavern. More than one dozen were preliminarily charged with illegal consumption or possession of alcohol. One faces preliminary charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor for bringing her 13-year-old sister to the bar, according to a release.

The Early Bird Bar and Grill was cited for 80 counts of allowing a minor to loiter and one count of altering floor plans without approval.

The bartender, 27-year-old Garcia Martinez, violated three city ordinances, police say – no dance hall permit, allowing minors to loiter and allowing minors to violate curfew.

Excise police say they will seek to revoke the business’ alcoholic beverage permit.

Juveniles who were cited have since been released to their parents and will appear in Marion County Juvenile Court in the future.
