LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Two people are in police custody after police said they sold K2 to undercover officers.

Police arrested 22-year-old Brittany Brandt and 19-year-old Shayla Brandt Wednesday after executing a search warrant at Discount Tobacco on Teal Road in Lafayette.

Detectives said this isn't the first time the store was caught selling the synthetic marijuana. Investigators said the tobacco shop employees were selling the synthetic marijuana K-2, also known as "spice. "

Each woman faces a preliminary felony charge of suspicion of dealing synthetic marijuana.

"In September, we issued them a warning and we seized over 15,000 dollars worth of the spice products. We received information they were continuing to sell it and we came back in October and they sold to an undercover police officer,” said Michael Barthelemy, Lafayette police officer.

Police said after the incident in October, the store was fined under city ordinance.
