C. Indiana bus driver might have whooping cough

GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) - Health officials say a school bus driver in suburban Indianapolis possibly exposed students to whooping cough.

Johnson County health officer Craig Moorman says tests are being done to confirm whether the driver for the Center Grove district suffered whooping cough. Moorman tells the Daily Journal that a physician treated the driver for the highly contagious illness, which causes coughing, spasms and vomiting.

Center Grove Superintendent Richard Arkanoff says no students have missed school because of any whooping cough symptoms. He didn't have an estimate on how many people might have been exposed to the illness, which could include athletic teams and students at any schools on the driver's route.

Moorman says that all Indiana students are supposed to be vaccinated against whooping cough by sixth grade.
