Big business for Valentine's Day

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Valentine's Day is just a couple of days away.

While some people are busy planning a romantic evening with their significant other, some Lafayette businesses are just plain busy.

Owner of Williams Florist flower shop in Lafayette, Donita Clouse said her shop has the same amount of business in the five days leading up to February 14 as it does in an entire month. She said she doubles her staff in order to process all the orders.

Clouse said she has a theory about why her shop is so busy for Valentine's Day.

"People really give from their hearts. It's not an obligated holiday like Christmas and sometimes Mother's Day," said Clouse.

Clouse said she and her staff start to prepare for Valentine's Day about two months in advance. She said they are expecting to do as many as four hundred flower deliveries between Saturday and Tuesday.
