Bargains begin on Thanksgiving

Many shoppers not waiting for Black Friday

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Throughout Thanksgiving Day several people shopped the door buster deals at Meijer in Lafayette. A lot of shoppers said they were looking for sales so they could spend less for the holidays because of the tough economy. Others wanted to find sale items for themselves. Popular items included marked down electronic items.

"Some of the electronics on the door buster sales were important to get and the grandchildren range from four years to the teens so I can start in the toys and go all the way to electronics," said shopper Nancy Beall who is shopping for seven children and nine grandchildren.

"Check out anything else that's on sale. Just look around the store," said Jennifer Wyant who stopped by before Thanksgiving dinner.

"Check out the shoe section," said Darrell McGhee who shopping for gifts and himself. "I like shoes."

"I just decided to stop by Meijer because it is open and look around for a few deals," said Deb Bishop who stopped by after her Thanksgiving celebration.

Some shoppers came during the dinner hour so they would miss the crush of people who will be out on Black Friday. Others also planned to be up early for those bargains.
