Lafayette - Here is the immediate local reaction:

"We put our hearts into this campaign and we actually pulled it off," said Douglas Buck, a Buck Creek resident.

"As a college student, I'm obviously worried about the economy, having a job when I graduate.  And, I thought Barack Obama was obviously the best candidate for that," said Ashley Rozier, a West Lafayette resident.

"No matter what you're doing if you believe that you can do it, you can do it.  I believe that he's proved that today.  Whatever you put your mind to, you can do.  Yes we can became yes we did," said Brian Johnson, a West Lafayette Resident.

"I didn't even think that it was going to be possible that Barack was going to be elected.  But to see the way that our country has come together.  To really understand the difference that there is no red state, there is no blue state.  To really understand Barack's message that we are the United States," said Ross Schoofs, a Lafayette resident.
