WHITE COUNTY - A fatal crash claims the life of two in White County. White
County Sheriff's Department said the single vehicle crash happened
Saturday night on County Road 300 East, North of County Road 1250
South, just before 10:00 p.m. Police said 18-year-old Kimberly
Hittle of Battle Ground and a 19-year-old male from Brookston both
died due to injuries from the crash. Police also said 19-year-old
Chad Hooker, the driver of the vehicle, was taken to Home Hospital
with minor injuries. Hospital staff said he was treated and
released Saturday night. A 17-year-old female from Battle Ground
was also taken to Home Hospital with injuries and was listed in
stable condition early Sunday morning. 18-year-old Travis Mills of
Brookston was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center and later
transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Police said he
is listed in critical condition.
White County Corner Mike Ott said Hittle died on the scene.
He said the probably cause is blunt force trauma.
Tippecanoe County Corner Donna Avolt said the 19-year-old
male resident of Brookston, who died from the crash, has not been
identified by family members. Avolt said Tippecanoe County will
perform autopsies for both the Brookston male and Hittle tomorrow
in conjunction with White County's Coroner's office.
The police reported the vehicle in the crash, not identified
in the release, was traveling North on County Road 300 East, just
North of County Road 1250 South when it left the roadway to the
west. Police say the driver lost control striking several trees
before coming to a rest.
The investigation is ongoing.
