UNION CITY, Ind. (WLFI) - Police in eastern Indiana say a 28-year-old woman led officers to where she had hidden the remains of her newborn daughter.
Union City police say Ana Guadalupe Monue told investigators that the baby was stillborn about three months ago. Police say she's believed at first to have buried the newborn outside her apartment building and then put the body underneath a rural Randolph County bridge in recent days.
The Star Press of Muncie reports Monue is jailed on preliminary charges of felony child neglect resulting in death and that a judge on Tuesday gave prosecutors three days to decide on formal charges. It wasn't clear whether she had an attorney.
Union City police Capt. William Bradbury says decomposition makes it difficult to determine whether the baby was stillborn.
