WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Local vendors of all shapes and sizes are encouraged to join a local farmers market for its ninth season this spring and summer.

Area food producers, food vendors and arts and crafts vendors are invited by the city of West Lafayette to participate in the annual Sagamore West Farmers Market in Cumberland Park off of Salisbury Street.

The weekly fresh-air market opens Wednesday, May 1, and runs every Wednesday from 3 to 6:30 p.m. through Oct. 30, with an additional market the day of Thanksgiving.

Goods at the market include: fresh produce, meat and eggs; take-out foods; herbs and flowers; baked goods and food crafts; and original art, crafts and jewelry. Goods sold at the market must be primarily grown, made or produced in the Indiana area by the vendor.

The cost is $85 for the 27-week season. Interested vendors should visit this website for market information and forms. Vendors should register by March 30.

A limited amount of spaces is available free of charge for area non-profit organizations for promotional or fundraising purposes. Spaces for non-profits are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis.

For more information on applying, contact Farmers Market City Representative Cheryl Kolb at ckolb@wl.in.gov or just head to the West Lafayette Farmers Market web page.
