INDIANA (WLFI) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Division of Nature Preserves is offering guided hikes at nature preserves across the state on Earth Day (April 20) and Mother’s Day weekend on May 11.

Registration is open for the hikes and runs through April 6. Space is limited, so participants should register as soon as possible.

The hikes are completely free and begin at 10 a.m. local time. Participants will experience spring wildflowers in bloom and old-growth forests.

The hikes happen at the following nature preserves:
• Calli Nature Preserve (North Vernon)
• Eagles Crest (Eagle Creek Park, Indianapolis)
• Donaldson’s Woods (Spring Mill State Park, Mitchell)
• Dunes (Indiana Dunes State Park, Chesterton)
•Olin Lake (LaGrange County)
• Shrader-Weaver (Fayette County)
• Rocky Hollow-Falls Canyon (Turkey Run State Park, Marshall)
• Warbler Woods (Fort Harrison State Park, Lawrence)

Visiting these nature preserves would be a unique and beautiful way to celebrate Earth Day and Mother’s Day weekend.

For more information and to register online, head to the DNR’s website.
