WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - If you're looking to get rid of old electronics, take note.

Oscar Winski has scheduled an e-recycling event.

It will be Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. in West Lafayette's Cumberland Park.

Recycling of most electronics will be free.

Items such as TVs, monitors and microwaves will be $5 each.

Oscar Winski general manager Thom Davis says if it plugs into a wall, they can probably accept it.

"They're not allowed in landfills anymore. They're not allowed in landfills anymore because of the materials inside of them," said Davis.

"You've got toxins like lead, arsenic, cadmium and those are just to name a few.  There's actually quite a few.  There's actually quite a long list of metals and toxics that are used in electronics to make them run better and faster."

Items containing freon such as refrigerators or air conditioners will not be accepted, as well as certain types of fluorescent bulbs.
