WHITE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - A new wind farm in White County is up and running.
A dedication ceremony marked the completion of the phase one Meadow Lake Wind Farm.
The $450 million project has 121 wind turbines with each one having 1.65 megawatts of capacity per turbine.
In all, the wind farm can produce enough energy to power 60 thousand homes.
Project Manager Peter Park says the community played a vital role in the development of the wind farm.
"People I've worked with, and it's getting into the high hundreds or maybe thousands by now, have been incredible. The community support, both from local government and local landowners, neighbors, has been incredible," said Park.
The construction phase of the wind farm created 450 jobs and with phase one now complete, 23 full-time employees will be in charge of operations
