PURDUE UNIVERSITY, Ind. (WLFI) - Purdue students were out spreading the message to "Go Green" on Earth Day. They were emphasizing the need to reduce consumption.
"What you need to do is use it in that order--reduce, reuse, recycle--there's a reason it's in that order," Purdue student Carmen Martin said.
On Purdue's campus environmental groups, including the Boiler Green Initiative, hosted a free Earth Day event.
Participants decorated reusable canvas bags and received a potted plant. Purdue senior, Andrew Bandy was passing by and stopped to join the festivities.
"My friends and I are kind of into the Green Movement we decided it would be fun to see what we could decorate and we decided to do leaf prints on them," Purdue student Andrew Bady said.
