LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Lafayette's Wastewater Treatment Plant is continuing to take 'green' steps.

On Tuesday, October 6th, the Lafayette Board of Works gave the green light for the Treatment Plant to order a new Aeration Blower System.

Brad Talley with Water Pollution said the new blower can adjust to the flow that comes into the plant, all while being more energy efficient.

Talley said it is great news for consumers because the money saved keeps their bills low.

"We're making all these changes so we can keep our budget relatively the same," said Talley. "With everything else going up, I think we're gonna be able to keep our budget the same this year, which, for a utility company, is unique I think."

Talley says it will take roughly 300 days to get the blower to the plant, and up and running. The $844,000 blower was paid for, in part, with stimulus money.
