TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) - Gardeners from around the community gathered to showcase their hard work on Sunday.

The event took place at the Tippecanoe County extension office and highlighted the hard work the master gardeners have been putting into their gardens all summer.

Master gardeners hosted demonstrations on herb and vegetable gardening. Work from local gardeners, who lease out spots, was also highlighted.

Co-Vice President of the Tippecanoe Master Gardeners Association Maribeth Slebodnik said in addition to seeing garden demonstrations, guests also got a taste of what gardening is like.

"We have lots of heirloom tomatoes here, over 50 varieties," said Slebodnik. "We have a lot of those varieties here so people can taste them and decide if they are something that they'd like to grow in their own gardens."

Slebodnik said there are more than 150 small gardens that community members can lease to grow their own food.
