STOCKWELL, Ind. (WLFI) - James Cole Elementary in Stockwell opened up its parking lot Saturday in the spirit of keeping the county clean and green. This event was only available on Saturday.

The volunteers from the Keep Stockwell Beautiful group helped people haul their unwanted electronics. Computer monitors, keyboards, televisions and tires are what is mostly being dropped off. This effort was funded through a grant by the Keep America Beautiful campaign.

"My wife and I have had a bunch of old electronics and appliances that have been taking up space in our garage. We've been storing them for a couple years now. We found this opportunity to get rid of them in a responsible way, said Stockwell resident Jason Marlin.

"If we didn't recycle, everything would go to a landfill. In our case, being in rural area, a lot of it ends up in our fields and ditches. So we are trying to prevent that from happening. We are also hoping to educate people that there are alternative methods of getting rid of unwanted items," said Organizer Kris Ziller.
