Church hosts e-recycling drive Saturday

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - Looking for a safe, green way to get rid of old electronics? Never fear.

RecycleForce will partner with St. James Lutheran Church for an Electronics Recycling (E-recycling) drive this week.

RecycleForce will accept electronics, cardboard, EPS block foam, bikes and bike accessories from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday at St. James Lutheran Church at 800 Cincinnati St. in Lafayette.

Gently used shoes will also be accepted.

A $10 donation is requested to recycle lead-tube TVs and monitors and a $20 donation for refrigerant-barring appliances.

The recycling site is full-service. Just pop your trunk and the staff will unload recyclables and have families on their way to their other Saturday activities.

Donated shoes will go to Changing Footprints, an Indiana nonprofit organization that provides shoes to homeless, disaster-stricken or underprivileged people.

Changing Footprints has collected and distributed thousands of shoes locally, nationally and internationally. The organization recently distributed 200 pairs of shoes to aid tornado victims in Henryville, Ind.
