Study: students who binge drink happier? Not true for Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A recent study that says students who binge drink are more socially satisfied than those who don’t was deemed inapplicable to Purdue’s campus by faculty members.

Though not all college students drink, binge drinking is an activity that is often associated with college life.

Whether deterred by the two-hour-long AlcoholEdu course or wishing to focus on school work, almost 70 percent of Purdue students reported they do not participate in the activity.

However, a recent study conducted by professors Carolyn Hsu and Landon Reid from Colgate University shows that those who choose to binge drink may be more content with their college experience than those who don’t.
