WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) -

Saturday, Purdue students, brought together by a Facebook page, plan to protest on Memorial Mall against the decision to hire Gov. Mitch Daniels as Purdue’s next president.

After Daniels was selected as the president-designate, students created the page “Public Protest Against Mitch Daniels as Purdue’s President.” As of Sunday evening, the event has over 200 attendees. Host Colleen Winters, a sophomore in the College of Engineering, expects most will make it out to the mall on Friday.

“So far, there are over 220 people on the Facebook page who have selected that they will be attending,” Winters said. “Most likely, we’ll see about half to three quarters of that show up.”
