Student's death brings friends together

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - The death of a recently deceased Purdue student has made it difficult for a friend to even listen to music now.

Eighteen-year-old Xavier Somerville, from Indianapolis, was known not only for his excited-for-life attitude, but also for his frequent freestyle raps.

Close friend Karleigh Latinovich, a freshman in the School of Management, knew Somerville for years, and said this had become a trademark of his.

“That’s something he would always do,” Latinovich said. “He was always freestyling. You turn on a song (now) and every song reminds you of him.”

Somerville died Monday, in Indianapolis, after falling from a fifth-floor apartment balcony during a party.
