WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A new iPhone app and Facebook site has made it possible for Purdue students to reveal secrets about themselves such as cheating on their partner.

Whisper on Purdue is both a site and free application for iPhones that gives students the opportunity to anonymously post a secret that is then shared for other students to see. Students can also customize a background for the post. The company Whispers is also working on creating an app for the Droid.

Allie Muhl, a sophomore in the College of Education, was recently hired to run the Facebook page. This entails Muhl picking three secrets a day to post and share with the social networking side of the company Whispers, which has already been used at other universities such as the University of Southern California and the University of California, Los Angeles. Whisper on Purdue has over 750 likes so far on Facebook.
