WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) -

Rep. Mike Pence, R-District 6, said Indiana should be the economic leader of the Midwest in his gubernatorial campaign speech to the Tippecanoe County Republican Women’s Club on Saturday.

An audience of 60 local legislators, voters and club members ate breakfast at the Holiday Inn Select in Lafayette and listened to Pence’s strategy for the future of Indiana. Pence said the state must go back to limited government practices by initiating a revival of federalism.

“We have to articulate a positive future for this state that focuses on results,” Pence said. “I think we have a chance to lead the way.”

Pence said that he has never heard so many Hoosiers tell him they were “scared” about the economic future of the country and of the state. He said he has made a point to be consistently against debt no matter what party is in control.
