Purdue student walks to raise awareness of leading killer

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - By creating a team for a national Alzheimer’s walk, a student hopes to raise awareness of a leading cause of death in the United States.

Tyler Albright, a first-year professional student in the College of Pharmacy, said that about six years ago, his grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, a brain disease that affects memory, thinking and behavior. Albright recalls how the disease affected his grandmother’s memory.

“One time my grandma tried driving somewhere and she got lost and it was hours before we found her,” he said. “My dad just happened to see her driving by and she didn’t know where she was, and it was really fortunate that we found her.”
