WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A Purdue professor will receive the Spirit of the Land-Grant Mission Award for her research in calcium.
After receiving her doctorate in food science and human nutrition from Oregon State University, Dr. Connie Weaver decided to come to Purdue to continue her research. Her proudest accomplishment to date is a research program called “Camp Calcium.”
Camp Calcium is a six-week program that started in 1990 in which middle school-aged students come to Purdue to have their bone density and metabolism tracked using bone densitometry machines and engage in scientific projects around campus.
