Purdue-made social media apps become common for classes

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - Students in large lecture classes now feel as if their voices are being heard thanks to new social media applications being implemented in certain courses.

Seven made-for-Purdue applications have been developed by the Purdue Studio project and ITaP creators. These applications, the newest being a Twitter-based back channeling application named Backdraft, have been becoming increasingly more common in classroom settings.

“Each seeks to re-imagine some aspect of the learning experience,” said Kyle Bowen, director of informatics. “Every application approaches learning in an entirely different way.”Heavilon Hall would be rebuilt - "One brick higher."
