WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A report issued today recorded Purdue having the second-largest number of international students among public schools in the nation for the fifth consecutive year.
The Open Doors Report, released by the Institute of International Education, also ranked the University fourth overall for the third consecutive year. The report showed that international students in all 50 states contributed $22.7 billion to the U.S. economy.
Between 2011 and 2012, Purdue increased by 13 percent to 8,563 international students. The University also has the highest number of undergraduate international students at 4,406.
According to the overall report, which is based on enrollments in around 1,200 U.S. higher education institutions, the international student number increased by six percent to 764,495 during the 2011 and 2012.
