Northwestern developments may impede traffic

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - Construction along Northwestern Avenue is anticipated to commence within the coming months, promising to disrupt traffic flow throughout campus.

The West Lafayette Traffic Commission met on Tuesday evening to address the coming development projects along Northwestern Avenue and outline the effects of construction on traffic around campus. David Buck, director of Public Works for West Lafayette, provided a timeline for construction to the commission.

On the corner of State Street and Northwestern Avenue, the current structure is expected to be demolished in the coming months, and construction to begin on a new structure to begin shortly thereafter. Additionally, a new sanitary main will be installed this summer to service the building, slowing traffic on one of the busiest corridors on Purdue’s campus.
