More weed management prepares better crops

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A Purdue specialist has suggested proper weed management in order to have a successful winter harvest.

Bill Johnson, an extension weed specialist, said because the drought brought an earlier harvest, farmers are getting ready for winter crops such as wheat earlier, too.

“Farmers looking to plant wheat in the next couple of weeks, as long as the crops are off the field, are in good shape,” Johnson said. “Now’s a good time to control weeds.”
