Hacker takes over marquee near Stewart Center at Purdue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - Students seemed more humored than bothered by the hacking of the computerized sign in front of the Stewart Center on Monday.

The sign usually displays the time and temperature, a greeting and other various messages. Monday, it rotated between screens displaying an image of the “troll face” Internet sensation as well as the words “Trollfest 2012,” “Problem Purdue?” and “Get H4XXOR3D!!”

Courtney Parrott, a sophomore in the College of Engineering, wasn’t surprised by the display. She said pranks like this are expected at a University.

“It’s college, it happens,” Parrott said. “There are a lot of important people on campus all the time, I feel like, so that’s a very good thing to display (when not hacked) ... Yeah, I feel like that’s something we should keep an eye on.”
