Daniels greets presidency with discussion of goals, respect for university initiatives

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - President Daniels’ first day Monday was just half of one that included some brief inaugural ceremonies, a quick lunch with his wife and a drive to campus.

“There’s not much to say about today yet, but I will just say that ... the sense of welcome and cordiality has been terrific,” Daniels said.

The possibility of switching to a trimester system:

Daniels’ first meeting as president of the University dealt with the possibility of switching to a trimester system. The thoughts behind such a change have primarily been that it would save students money and get them their diplomas faster. Daniels said this first meeting was informative and a good first session spent highlighting both the pros and cons of executing such a plan.
