WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - The president of Purdue’s Beta Theta Pi said that the chapter’s punishment as a result of investigation is heartbreaking and unfair.

Thursday, it was announced that Beta Theta Pi (Beta Mu) fraternity has been placed on suspension which will extend through May 4, 2013. The house will close at the end of the semester. The fraternity will be placed on probation through Dec. 20, 2014.

The suspension is a result of the fraternity’s charges of hazing and providing alcohol accessible to minors at both social and new member events. The fraternity’s national office partnered with the University to conduct the investigation.
