WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A Purdue sports nutritionist said that what football players eat in the days leading up to kickoff end up making a difference in each game.

“What (the players) eat will make a huge difference,” Rachel Clark said. “If you run out of fuel in the fourth quarter and the game has been tight, you have an issue. If you fuel properly, you can (surely) outlast the other team.”

Senior wide receiver Antavian Edison eats pasta every Friday before a game during the season.

“I was watching an interview of one of the great NFL running backs and he said he ate pasta every day before game day, so I tried it,” Edison said. “I had a great game and felt good all (throughout the) game so I just stuck with it.”
