LuAnn Lamie 2012 Golden Apple

Your Character is defined by what you do not just what you say or believe.  Leading by actions and examples while reinforcing life and education concepts can be challenging, but our next Golden Apple Winner does just that.  LuAnn Lamie an Art teacher at Lafayette Jefferson High School empowers her students by not only teaching art but by truly practicing it, and art is a form of cultural objectification for her and the way she sees the world so that her student's get to see the world through her eyes.  LuAnn is decried by a former student as an artist through and through and a teacher who cracks your mind open and you learn to see the world in new and different ways. When her students leave her classroom LuAnn hopes that they take a sense of self-respect, humor, and understanding that you have to work hard for good craftsmanship and professionalism with them.
