WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - WLFI is proud to announce Jessie Hawila as the latest addition to our weather team.

Jessie comes to us from Ball State University where he studied meteorology and climatology.  “I’m looking forward to working with Chad Evans and Cameron Hopman to provide the best local coverage we can for the viewers, so they can be as prepared as possible.”

WLFI General Manager Marc Elliott said, “We are excited to be able to provide the Lafayette area with complete, 7 days a week, weather coverage.”

He added, “News Channel 18 is committed to providing the best possible coverage for news and information to the community.  Adding Jessie to the weather team fills our desire to have a local forecast available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.”

Beginning December 31, Jessie will be our weekend meteorologist, working alongside Kristin Maiorano, News Channel 18’s weekend anchor.

News Director, Jeff Smith said, "Jessie has already shown us his passion for the science of weather, and has a knack for putting that science into a forecast that we all can understand and use.”

He also said, “Having this weather team in place in time for winter storms, we’ll be able to bring an even higher level of general and severe weather information to our viewers.”
