Julie joined WLFI in March of 2008 as a Reporter/Producer. She is originally from Venice, Florida. She attended Florida State University where she graduated with a degree in English with a concentration in writing, and a minor in Communications. While in school she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta, and took part in Florida State University's News Team as an Entertainment Reporter. She had two internships while in school. One at WCTV in Tallahassee, FL and the other at WWSB in Sarasota, FL which she watched growing up. In her free time she enjoys going to the beach, working out, and spending time with her family and friends.  She loves the Seminoles and spending time with her dog, Brody! She says she is excited for the winter, because she has only seen snow a couple times in her life. She also says she is happy to be in Lafayette covering news from where YOU live.

Which holiday do you get into the most?

Christmas! Every year my family and I would go to a candle-lit church ceremony on Christmas Eve. Followed by a huge dinner. Then on Christmas morning bright and early we would head over to my neighbor's house and have a breakfast. My neighbors have been my second family, and we have all lived nextdoor to eachother since I was a baby.

What did your first day in news / TV teach you about the business?

One of the first times I ever dealt with news was in Middle School, one of my friends and I were the co-anchors of the morning newscast. Right there and then, I decided my goal was to work in the news. My first day in "real" tv news was as in intern at a news station in Tallahassee, Florida. I was the morning intern, and had to wake up at 4:30am to get to the station on time. I remember thinking to myself how in the world can people actually work these hours. It didn't scare me off too much, once I got used to the schedule, I knew I wanted to be in the business...and that it doesn't matter what hours are thrown my way.

Your most memorable moment at WLFI?

My first week at WLFI I had the chance to go see President Bill Clinton speak. Also one of my most memorable stories that I covered was welcoming troops home from Iraq.

Saying or motto you live by?

Life is too short to be anything, but happy!
