I've lived in West Lafayette for the past two years. I moved here when my husband got a new job. I didn't expect to fall in love with the Lafayette area, but I sure did! I love it here, the people are friendly and warm... Hoosier hospitality at its best!

I'm an Indiana girl, born and raised and very proud of it. I'm a huge basketball fan so I love cheering on Purdue. My mother is a Purdue grad. Her first teaching job was at St. Boniface school in Lafayette. In fact, Pastor Tim Alkire was one of her students! We figured that out last year when my mother took us around Lafayette and ran into Father Tim. My grandfather ran a grain dryer company called Farm Fans. He has since passed away but I've seen several Farm Fans dryers on farms around the Lafayette area and I smile when I see them. They make me think of him.

I started out my career in broadcasting as a reporter in Terre Haute where I had the chance to cover a wide range of stories. I followed the Indiana National Guard to Ft. Stewart, Georgia, where they trained before deploying to Iraq. I've covered nearly every natural disaster that's hit Indiana in the past five years (tornadoes, ice storms, the flood of 2008, and the April 2008 earthquake - in fact, I was doing an interview when one of the aftershocks hit!). I also had the privilege to interview President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama prior to the 2008 Indiana Primary Election. After Terre Haute, I went to Evansville where I was the weekend anchor at WFIE - the NBC affiliate there. I was also a reporter three days a week. I left Evansville when I got engaged and moved to Lafayette to be closer to my fiance. I was hired at Fox59 in Indianapolis where I've spent the last two years doing a variety of jobs, including doing afternoon traffic reports.

I think I'm making a nice little tour around the state of Indiana! I hope to call Lafayette home for a long time. I'm very happy to be working at WLFI. It'll be great not to commute down I-65 every day but more importantly, I'm so excited to be working in the community where I live. I hope our viewers will give me a chance to tell their stories. This is the news from where you live. These are the stories about your neighbors, your elected officials, your businesses. It's an important job and responsibility and I promise to work hard to deliver those stories.
