WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) - WLFI is proud to announce Liz Nichols will be joining NewsChannel 18 This morning with Joe LePage and Meteorologist Cameron Hopman.

“I started my career as a reporter in Terre Haute followed by anchoring the weekend news at WFIE in Evansville, Indiana. Recently, I have been at Fox59 in Indianapolis doing a variety of jobs, including traffic reports” said Nichols.

WLFI General Manager Marc Elliott said “We are fortunate to have an experienced journalist Like Liz join our news team.” He added, “Her journalistic experience and knowledge of our community are a perfect combination for our viewers.”

Nichols also said “I'm so excited to be working in the community where I live. News from where you live is about your neighbors, your elected officials, and businesses. It's an important job and responsibility, and I promise to work hard to deliver those stories."

Beginning Wednesday June 22, Liz will be taking over for long-time NewsChannel 18 Anchor Laura Kirtley. Laura has accepted a job with Ivy Tech Community College here in Lafayette. “My time with WLFI has been filled with great memories and experiences” she said. Kirtley added, “This job has exposed me to a wonderful community and I am excited to stay here in Lafayette.”

Jeff Smith, News Director said “Laura has been a vital part of our news department and her professionalism and exuberant personality will be missed.”
