Prepare for a windy day ahead! Wind speeds will remain relatively light through the early morning hours, then pick up in speed as we approach midday. Wind gusts up to 35 MPH will be possible this afternoon. The southwesterly winds will at least help temperatures climb into the lower to mid-60s later today. The forecast high for Lafayette is 63°!
We will start off the day with mostly clear skies, however, we are tracking a dry cold front and the boundary will bring more cloud cover to the area this evening. Showers are not likely because there is not much moisture associated with this system. After 6 p.m. EST, skies will turn mostly cloudy. Cloud cover will decrease again after midnight EST. Temperatures will drop behind the cold front with lows dropping back into the mid-30s.
Wednesday is looking dry, but it will be cooler with highs in the lower 50s. Our next rain-making system will arrive Wednesday night and linger into Thursday morning. Friday is going to be the coolest day of the week with highs in the upper 40s. The area will warm back up into the 50s by the weekend.
