This comes after Cambridge Analytica obtained account information from about 87 million Facebook users. Students are now worried about being vulnerable when it comes to surfing Facebook. While they are on the internet with caution, many people are asking the question, were they part of the 87 million?

Purdue Professor, Karthik Kannan, said this is something everyone should be aware of.

"One of the things we need to realize is when you are browsing the web," Kannan said. "No matter in that regard, these data sets, and their information is getting shared among third-party people no matter what, even without your knowledge."

Student Aaron Althoff said he still has faith in some online companies that show up on the social media platform.

"I feel like we have to trust the companies that they are going to use the information that we want them to," Althoff said.

And some students like Audrey Lo said she isn't ready to give up Facebook, even if it means there's some danger when clicking it.

"I think I'm still going to continue to use Facebook, even though I wasn't affected by it." Lo said. "But just because it's a way to stay connected to my family,"

A statement from Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said the company is planning to notify anyone whose data has been shared.
Facebook is also working to change its platform to include more restrictions.
