LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A man was found guilty Thursday afternoon of two counts of attempted murder along with other charges. Tippecanoe County Circuit Jury found Alain Powell Jr. guilty of two counts of attempted murder, aggravated battery, aggravated battery by mean of a deadly weapon, battery resulting in serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness, carrying a handgun without a license, and use of an enhanced firearm. Powell was not found guilty in a third attempted murder charge.

The sentencing is scheduled for July 9.

On March 20, 2017, Powell fired shots from his car at a car containing three people. He had stopped beside the victims' car around 24th and Brice street and according to police, witnesses heard Powell shouted, "You got a problem with my brother?"

After seeing the gun the victims' car sped away and Powell opened fire. The front-seat passenger was struck twice once in the shoulder and once in the side.
