LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI)-- Five calls were made yesterday after business owners found graffiti on their property's walls.

Tippecanoe courthouse also found graffiti along entrances and signs to their buildings.

Business owner Noah Mattern says it was the first thing he saw.

According to the city, property owners are required to remove the graffiti within fifteen days.

Lafayette Police Sergeant Matt Gard says this isn't an issue law enforcement takes lightly.

"So anytime we get reports of vandalism we take those reports very seriously." Gard said.

The officers found that the graffiti has not been connected to gang violence.

Gard says the majority of people involved in these crimes are juveniles.

For now business owners are without any explanation and are left cleaning up the mess.
