Man wanted on warrant found with 160 grams of meth

LAFAYETTE, INd. (WLFI) — Lafayette police found a large cache of meth on Thursday after a traffic stop in Lafayette.

Police say on Jan. 11 at around 9:15 p.m., an LPD officer pulled over a vehicle driven by 26-year-old Christopher J. Stichter in the 500 block of New York Street. Once stopped, Stichter exited the vehicle and fled.

A foot pursuit ensued but the officer was able to apprehend Stichter within a few blocks of the scene.

Officers arrived to assist and when they conducted a search of the vehicle they found drug paraphernalia and over 160 grams of methamphetamine.

Stichter was also discovered to have an outstanding writ of attachment and an outstanding arrest warrant. He was arrested and taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

Stichter has been preliminarily charged with possession of paraphernalia and possession of methamphetamine.
