Attempted traffic stop leads to 5 arrests and large amount of meth

Five people have been arrested after an attempted traffic stop led to a large quantity of meth and other drugs.

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Five people have been arrested after an attempted traffic stop led to a large amount of meth and other drugs.

Police say that on Oct. 15 at around 9 p.m., LPD officers noticed a suspicious vehicle in the 1900 block of Everett Street and a traffic stop was attempted.

The driver failed to stop and officers were not able to pursue due to safety concerns, however, the vehicle was located a short while later in the 1200 block of Morton Street. Two people fled the vehicle on foot but police were able to catch them.

They were identified as 18-year-old Zaron Staples and 24-year-old Dannielle Duncan-Sanders.

Upon being taken into custody the police found drugs, paraphernalia, and two handguns, one of which had been previously reported as stolen.

Further investigation led police to a home in the 1900 block of Everett Street.

There, 59-year-old Richard Dixon was arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine, and 31-year-old Lindsay Ragan for possession of a syringe. She was also wanted on outstanding warrants.

A search of the home turned up several drugs including methamphetamine, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, syringes, and paraphernalia.

Police also arrested 50-year-old Kelly Hudelson, who lived at the home.

A total of 65.92g of methamphetamine, 15.14g of synthetic marijuana, 1.87 grams of marijuana, and 2 handguns were seized in the search.
