News Internships

Our news interns get a full look at what a broadcast media station does and how WLFI gets the latest news to viewers. Interns take on different roles in the newsroom every day and will become familiar with broadcast writing, non-linear editing and much more.

There are a few requirements that must be met to be eligible for our internships:

You must be a full-time college student in your junior or senior year.
You must be majoring in a communications-linked field, i.e., journalism, broadcast media, communications, etc.
You must complete a minimum of 10 weeks’ work with 15 hours per week, which must be given in college credit.
Job offer contingent on background check and drug screen.

Sports Internships
Our sports interns will gain a full understanding of what a sports anchor/reporter does at a local television station. Interns will learn to shoot produce and write sportscasts, and edit material for the sportscast.

You must be majoring in a communications -linked field, i.e., journalism, broadcast media, communications, etc.
You must complete a minimum of 10 weeks’ work with 15 hours per week, which must be given in college credit.

Weather Internships
Our Meteorology interns find out firsthand what it takes to bring a forecast from paper to a commercial broadcast. Interns will receive hands-on experience working with our Weather Central Fusion system and one on one work with our Meteorologists in front of the chroma-wall.

You must be majoring in atmospheric science or a communications-linked field, i.e., journalism, broadcast media, communications, etc.
You must complete a minimum of 10 weeks’ work with 15 hours per week, which must be given in college credit.
