WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - According to the Purdue Student Government president, there is unequal representation in the senate.
The Council of Organizations for Respect and Equality has two senators in the student senate who are responsible for programming and policy. The event programming responsibilities will be transferred to the chief diversity and inclusion officer in the executive branch, and the council's senators will be replaced by two council of diversity and inclusion senators: a graduate senator and a faculty senator.
The change ensures the senate reflects Purdue's diversity, according to Joe Rust, the current Purdue Student Government president.
