WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - A Reamer Club senior pulled out a pair of brown corduroy pants from her book bag, pants that few students today would be so brave and proud to wear in public.
The Purdue Reamer Club, in charge of numerous Purdue traditions such as knowing all of the University's songs and maintaining the Boilermaker Special, has a few traditions that it keeps within the club. The Reamers, along with about 12 other organizations, keep the tradition of making senior decorated corduroys.
Olivia Allen, a senior in the College of Liberal Arts, said that this tradition, started in 1904, is not one that makes her feel silly. She has looked forward to decorating her own pants since her freshman year.
