WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (Exponent) - The Purdue baseball team is now moved into Alexander Field after delays that pushed its opening back a year.
The reigning Big Ten champions are holding their fall practices at their new venue located at Cherry Lane and McCormick Road, which is part of a $21 million project that also includes a revamped soccer complex.
"It'll be a work in progress through the fall, probably into the winter, but it's exciting," head coach Doug Schreiber said. "This still isn't the biggest stadium in the Big Ten as far as seating. ... But as far as having anything newer or better, I can't say that anybody does."
Several events will be held in the complex in the fall, and the Boilermakers first game in the stadium will be March 19 against Illinois-Chicago. A dedication game will follow later in the season.
