DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) - It was a close mayoral race in Delphi. The incumbent Democrat Randy Strasser keeps his job, but by the narrowest of margins. Strasser won by just 34 votes.

Strasser has been elected to a second term as mayor of Delphi. He won the election with 51% of the votes. His opponent Republican Gary Hathaway had 45% and Ronald Bogan took 5% of the votes.

The race was close. 555 votes were cast for Mayor. Strasser won by just 34 votes. He had 281 and Hathaway took 247.

Strasser said in his next term, he plans to continue to rebuild the city's foundation. He said in his first term as mayor, he focused on the Hoosier Heartland project, tourism, changing the economy, bring more businesses and industry to Delphi. He plans on much more growth for the city.

"We want to continue finishing off that foundation and then do our planning. Plan, work with the county. Once the Hoosier Heartland is completed, make sure we are looking at business industry, some housing and some downtown revitalization," Strasser said.
